ICBU: UAE Humiliates the Mothers of Detainees in its Prisons in Yemen

The International Campaign to Boycott UAE (ICBU) has accused the UAE militias in Yemen of insulting the mothers of the detainees. Last week, a number of Yemeni security men, supported by UAE, forced the mothers of Yemeni detainees to wait for long hours near the prison gate and they humiliated the mothers by inspecting the detainees food and left it under the sun for long hours till it was ruined .

A Yemeni civil society group said that the ill-treatment had caused traumatic psychological effects among mothers, causing some of them to faint. The international campaign blamed the rulers of the United Arab Emirates and called on to hold them accountable, punish them for their crimes in Yemen and prevent them from entering countries that respect human rights.

ICBU said the UAE was holding several Yemenis in secret prisons in Yemen, some of them transferring their secret prisons in the United Arab Emirates and using mercenary militias, whether from Africa or Yemen, and recruiting children in the war in Yemen.

The International Campaign called for the intervention of the United Nations, the European Parliament, human rights institutions and the international community to stop human rights violations committed by UAE authorities against foreign residents in the UAE and to force UAE authorities to respect human rights laws. The campaign also called on all countries that respect human rights laws and the free world to boycott the UAE because they violate human rights daily, whether in the war in Yemen or with neighboring countries or citizens or residents.

ICBU said it was launched in the light of the endless violations of human rights practiced by the UAE, as well as its war crimes in Yemen and violations of workers’ rights, as well as the fact that the UAE is the center of modern slavery. The United Arab Emirates today is one of the leading countries in trafficking in human beings and is one of the main supporters of terrorist groups in Syria and other parts of the Middle East.
